Chelsea wonderkid Billy Gilmour considering loan move after being overlooked by Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea playmaker Billy Gilmour is considering a season out on loan next term after finding himself overlooked by Thomas Tuchel since the German’s appointment at Stamford Bridge.

The Scot is considered one of the finest players to emerge from Chelsea’s academy in the last decade but he’s played just two-and-a-half Premier League games since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard.

The teenager was fearful his lack of game time would see him miss out on a spot in Scotland’s European Championships squad but Gilmour was relieved to be included.

Nevertheless, the midfielder knows he needs minutes to continue his development and he’s seen the positive effect that two spells out on loan had for team-mate Mason Mount.

Now Gilmour believes he could benefit from a spell away from west London and the Sun say he’ll sit down with Tuchel before deciding on his options to spend next season away from Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel is keen on signing a new central midfielder and Gilmour could find his chances limited even further should he opt to stay at the club.

Gilmour believes he can attract suitors by starting for Scotland at the European Championships and despite his lack of game time, Chelsea have no doubts about the playmaker’s quality.

Chelsea signed Gilmour at the age of 15 from Rangers, spending £500,000 on the midfielder.

Rangers were furious to only receive a development fee for the teenager, who had already trained with the first team and played for the club’s U20s.
