Chelsea won the UEFA Champions League for the second time in their history on Saturday evening, beating Manchester City 1-0 in Porto
N’Golo Kante will be looking to add the European Championship trophy to his growing collection of honours when France embark on their Euro 2020 campaign later this month.
The Chelsea midfielder, who played a key role in helping France win the FIFA World Cup three years ago, added another trophy to his growing collection on Saturday evening, playing an instrumental role in the Blues’ 1-0 win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League final.
Although Kai Havertz netted the goal that secured the Blues their second Champions League crown in their history, it was the performance of Kante that was by far and away the most aesthetically pleasing. He was dominate in the midfield, limiting City to almost nothing, as he scooped the Man of the Match award for the third Champions League game in a row.
The win in Porto meant that Kante has now won five major honours as a player, with only the Carabao Cup and Euros missing from his personal collection.
It is an astounding record for a player to hold, but you can guarantee that the Frenchman will not be willing to stop there, as he will be setting his sights on winning the Euros with France this summer and trying to help his country win the competition for the first time since 2000.
But Kante will not be the only superstar that France boss Didier Deschamps will be calling upon this summer, with his squad packed to the rafters with household names and amazing levels of talent. Amongst those that will be looking to make a name for himself this summer will be Antoine Griezmann.
The Barcelona striker, who was the top goal-scorer at Euro 2016, scoring six goals, will be looking to once again shine on the international stage.
